The Web

The Web

The Web is a collection of websites with pages (XHTML, CSS, Javascript and more) which contains images, videos, applications and more.  The web is where we operate and develop systems.  Since 2002 we've had a commitment to developing open web systems, based on standards based technologies.  We've always belived in (and have been proven right) that standards and programming languages that are either open source or standardized will prevail and have been proven right in for example not doing Flash-work because we didn't believe in it long term.  Flash has many uses and we use it just about every day when viewing videos, playing games or other things that require a plugin such as Flash.  But openness, and avoiding vendor lock-in is important so that customers and users can go between providers and resellers without high switching costs.  High switching costs hinders the free flow of customers between providers, and prevents market mechanisms from "doing their thing" and motivating providers to provide cheaper and better services faster.

We have, and do ourselves, provide services with a certain degree of lock-in, but this is a part of package given to customers to ensure that our up-front investments in time are rewarded, and we take great care not to unfairly or unecessarily exploit our position in such relationships.

Now, back to technology again.  We know quite a bit about (X)HTML, CSS, Javascript and media, and are able to create balanced quality/time-to-market (or single customer) solutions.  We have also had the priviliege of having The Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted - NABP as a customer for some years now, and we've learned quite a bit about/to focus on creating websites and applications that are accessible also to those who are visually impaired as well as those who have other impairments.
